Iron Man: Extremis

Have you ever wondered what would happen if a terrorist got a hold of a techno virus that granted him super speed, super strength, and the ability to breath fire? No? Well, for the 3% of you that have, I recommend Iron Man: Extremis. Iron Man: Extremis is a graphic novel written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Adi Granov. Ellis has been involved with various works from Ultimate Fantastic Four to Wolverine and was even involved in the production of the survival horror game, Dead Space. Iron Man: Extremis collects his short, but sweet, six issue run on Iron Man and sets the revitalized series off to a great start.

The story starts off kind of dull, dealing with your typical Tony Stark board meetings about this and that, and an interview with Tony that throws in some metaphors, hidden meanings, and all that good stuff. Luckily, about half way through the book, it picks up some speed and the action takes place. But oh no, when Tony's armor can't handle the sheer brute force of this new villain, he has to try the experimental techno virus that put him in the situation in the first place. Now, of course this leads to a near-death, acid trippy flashback to his earlier days. As in almost all comics these days, by the end of it, the status quo remains relatively the same, and all is well in the world.

This book is a nice, quick read and runs at the comparatively low price of $14.99. The writing and dialogue is well developed, and the art is fantastic. So, for anyone that is an Iron Fan (Har har, you see what I did there?), or to any comic book fan that wants to just sit down and enjoy a nice graphic novel, I reccomend Iron Man: Extremis.
